Star Spangled Learning

We celebrate Black History Month in a way that is meaningful, simple, and exciting for our little learners! 💛

We spent time learning about Barack Obama, who served as the 44th President of the United States and made history as the first African American president. We talked about how presidents are leaders who help make important decisions for our country and how anyone can grow up to do big things with hard work, kindness, and determination.

To make our learning hands-on, each student received their very own American flag to take home! The children loved waving their flags and practicing the Pledge of Allegiance together. This special activity also connected perfectly with our Frog Street curriculum focus on shapes — especially rectangles and stars. We explored how the flag is shaped like a rectangle and counted the stars together, strengthening both our math skills and our understanding of national symbols.

We also celebrated Team USA and their amazing accomplishment of winning 33 medals at the Winter Olympics! Our students cheered for the athletes and talked about teamwork, perseverance, and trying our best — whether in sports, school, or everyday life.

It was a joyful day filled with learning, pride, and celebration. We love finding ways to help our students connect history, math, and current events in fun and meaningful ways. ❤️🤍💙
