Mr. Big Time Healthy!

Mr. Big Time... 🎶 Big Time Healthy!! 🎜🎵🎝

Our recent guest speaker and motivator was a HUGE hit here at The Academy!
Mr. Big Time Healthy came in to sing and dance and talk about healthy habits with the children. They danced and sang about hand washing, teeth brushing, healthy snacks and exercise. Everyone was up and moving, including the teachers!

January's theme of Fitness Fanatics has been a really fun one! Juice bars at grab and go, relay races and kids yoga classes. It has inspired us all to start this year off with positive vibes around our healthy habits. We're all here to empower each other and to keep up these healthy habits all year long!

Traditional Tales

Our Frog Street Press Toddler Curriculum Theme for January is "Traditional Tales". Frog Street Press educates early learners through exploration, imitation, and experience. Last week, our sweet littles in Toddler 2 explored the traditional tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears! We learned all about spatial awareness as we tried out Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear's chairs. Papa Bear's chair was the most exciting to explore, but Baby Bear's chair was JUUUSSST RIGHT.
Check out our photos below for a sneak peek into our program as we GROW, LEARN and PLAY!

We love using our magnetic story boards with our weekly themes! We get to really interact and it helps us comprehend these fun stories in an age appropriate way!

Papa Bear's chair is TOO BIG!

Mama Bear's chair is ALMOST my size!

But Baby Bear's chair is JUST RIGHT!

We also tasted porridge and explored a cardboard box bear cave! Our teachers at AoILV truly know how to create childhood.

Visit our website for more info! We are currently enrolling! Space is limited!

Kindness Tree

At The Academy of Indian Lake Village we focus on developing not only academics, but the emotional sense of self as well. We grow this through an approach called Conscious Discipline. Conscious Discipline integrates social-emotional learning, and self-regulation to teach vital life skills. See link at the end of the blog for more info!

One way to build emotional learning is to teach kindness to others. Our 3 year old class, Preschool 3 created a kindness tree today! They each took a turn saying kind things to one another while the teacher documented. Each child got to post their statement on the tree. The children's pictures will be added along with the statements to foster a "kindness to all" mindset.

How beautiful! Check it out!

"We Love our Friends!"

"It's kind to hug a friend when they are sad."

"We Play Trucks."

"We always use nice hands."

"We hug our friends when they are sad."

"I feel sad when my friend is hurt."

"I love my friend's shirt."

"When you fall, I'll hug you."

"We care for our friends when they feel upset.

"We share our special toys."

"We always smile at our friends."
