DIY Patterns

Sure, we have lots of toys and games that teach us all about patterns but there's nothing like old fashioned hands on, paper and crayon activities!
Our PreK One Class created their own patterns using colors and patterns of their choice. This activity fostered independence, creativity, fine motor and early math skills.

Check out our awesome patterns below!

"I wanted to make snake patterns!"

"Mine are tree patterns!"

"I just wanted to make little lines."

"Look at my really tall, GIANT PATTERNS!"

"My patterns have feet!"

AoILV is now enrolling for the new year! Limited availability! Give us a call for a tour!

Outdoor Dress Up

Being outdoors naturally sparks the imagination. Add dramatic play items to the mix and you're looking at our future leaders!

Dramatic play allows children to experiment with different roles as they grow. Check out our littles trying on a few new roles on the playground!

Doctor Emileigh to the rescue!

Looks like our Police Chief had to inspect our outdoor construction site!

Chef Natalia welcomes you to the cafe! Would you like a seat on the patio?

With all the fish, hamsters and a school bunny, someone has to be the Zoo Keeper!

I guess they are all on their lunch break... :)

These faces are the reason I do what I do each day. I love those smiles and strive to continue providing a childhood full of warmth and memories.
Come by and see us!

Kindness Skills

I could cry watching our classrooms in action. Our teachers not only incorporate our curriculum, but they are free to create their own activities as seen fit.
Ms. Jessica and Ms. Kristi, our PreK teachers do this often. This is an example that displays what is important to them. They truly foster a sense of kindness and helpfulness in their classroom, so the PreK littles helped make a "Helpful Collage!"

Check it out!

The children chose helpful images from magazines and cut them out to display on the group collage. Fine motor, expanding attentiveness, and developing empathy!

I can be helpful by making food for my mom!

I can be helpful by cleaning up and helping with my little brother!

This is an easy activity to implement at home!

Here are some questions to ask as you conduct the activity:
"What does helpful mean?"
"Who do you know that is helpful?"
"What did you do today that was helpful?"
"Why is it good to be helpful?"

Please do not forget the social emotional development of children in this fast paced world.

October Curriculum Review

Can you believe that October is over? We can't! Where does the time go??

Although the days go quickly, we try to ensure that the final week of each month is a slow down week to truly take in what we've learned. Last week, we reviewed our October focus of Family, Friends, Community and Pets.

Frog Street Press Curriculum adapts a community perspective to learning as this is just as important as meeting the check lists and milestones!

Below is a snipped of a review session for our 3 year old class. Ms. Kelsey and Ms. Kiara are rock stars and we appreciate all of the love they extend to our sweet littles every day!

To ensure top notch focus, we implement our "Bunny Breathing" technique to calm our bodies and focus our minds!

Great Bunny Breathing, friends!

Now we are ready to review!

Pets are family too!
*Magnetic story boards encourage fine motor development, early comprehension skills and assists our 3 year old visual learners!*

Discussing Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa

Family is love!

Comprehension, compassion and literacy all in one! What does the word "Family" start with?

Sound it out with me!

As you can tell, our interactive curriculum meets so many needs in just a short lesson.
Stop by today to learn more! Mrs. Candace, the Director, will gladly discuss options for you!

Baby Doll Circle Time

We are excited to be starting something new with your littles! It's called Baby Doll Circle Time! Your child's development depends on the nurturing relationships that they experience. In the words of the Baby Doll Circle Time creator, Becky Bailey:
"It's not the book that's of extreme value as much as it's the caring lap we read it from."

During BDCT, the children and teacher will interact with their baby dolls in the same ways we interact with children individually. This allows your children to re-experience connections over and over again leading to optimal development.

Here's a sneak peek into our Toddler BDCT... :)

Kindergarten Beginnings

We recently kicked off our Fall Academic Year at the beginning of September. We've spent the first few weeks settling into our new rooms, meeting new friends and learning new schedules. The Academy proudly utilizes the nationally accredited Frog Street Press Curriculum, along with incorporation from Get Set for School/Handwriting Without Tears in our PreK Program.

PreK 2 is utilizing the Handwriting Without Tears booklet below. This booklet assists with fine motor mastery.

We use personalized pencil/crayon cases to prepare us for Kindergarten as well! Each child has one of their own with their name on the lid.

Check out our dexterity!

So focused. ** Big line, little line** **Big curve, little curve**

We still have a few PreK spaces available for the year! Come by for a tour!

Grandparent's Day Breakfast

At The Academy, we welcome everyone (not just guardians) into our school family. One celebration that builds these relationships is our annual Grandparent's Day event.

Each year we invite Grandparent's in for their own special event so we can celebrate and thank them. This year we hosted a breakfast for them and had a great turnout!

Thank you for sharing your sweet grand babies!

Stay tuned for more Fall is for Family events!
