The Power of..... MOVEMENT

As we continue our POWER OF PLAY theme, last week's MOVEMENT focus took us on a secret mission!

Preschool 3 made treasure maps to locate a treasure. This map led them through some sticky situations! The final task was to complete a LASER CRAWL! Each child had to carefully crawl through the "lasers" without touching them.

Our shoes made it a little tricky, so we set those aside to ensure our mission was a success! (Don't worry about our toes! We were walking safely on the soft carpet!)

Taking large steps helps us learn balance!

Team Project Thursday is UNDERWAY! Where will our maps take us? Team Project Thursday enhances communication skills, creates a weekly routine, and opens the door for new ideas to be heard!

Learning to balance our upper and lower bodies at once!

Large gross motor activities improve concentration and problem solving.

Play is the work of a child. It is how they learn to navigate the world around them. Let them be little!

Music Week!

The Power of Play Theme is moving right along!!! Last week's focus was Music! Each room enhanced their music centers and brought in experiences that fosters so many areas of early childhood development. Here are just a few examples:

PreK 3 incorporated a real violin into Music Week! This experience taught care and compassion for a new object and enhanced our listening skills!

We learned new language such as "pitch" and "tune".

In Infants, we provided contrasting black and white photos of music notes and scales along with age appropriate musical instruments. Contrasting colors captivate and hold a baby's attention, encouraging visual development as well as physical activity such as wiggling, kicking and waving!

Rock Star Dress Up Day gave us the opportunity to discuss commonalities, music genres, and build bonds through dramatic play!

This Music themed Dramatic Play Band provided a chance to dream of future goals, practice sharing and teamwork!

This stretchy band homemade guitar gave our infants and toddlers the opportunity to understand cause and effect, that objects make sound and enhance fine motor development!

Lastly, PreK 1 created drums out of items at the school. This gives children a chance to problem solve, experiment and try their own ideas! Great work and they sounded fantastic!

Thank you to our wonderful teachers for creating such a warm, fun and education environment.
We love all of you!

We Found Fossils!!!

It turns out that we may be home to a few extinct beings! PreK One found DINOSAUR FOSSILS yesterday!!!! We've got some young archaeologists at work here!

Science teaches children to try new things and explore with confidence!

Science is building community with friends and our teachers.

Science teaches, "Hey, I may need your help with this!"

Science enhances attention.

Science allows us to explore new tools that are not used in day to day settings.

Science even encourages imaginative play! "Let's be dinosaurs while we search for their bones!"

Science encourages language development. Fossil was the word of the day. While pronouncing it, we explored it's letters in print.

Stop by to explore our SUMMER PROGRAM, THE POWER OF PLAY!
THERE'S NEVER A BETTER DAY TO PLAY THAN TODAY!

Water Play Kick Off!

Today was our first SUMMER WATER DAY!!! We have Water Play every Friday during our Summer program. This year's theme is "The Power of Play".  Each week has a weekly theme and our first week's theme is "Construction/Black Play" Each Friday day we will tie our weekly theme into our outdoor fun, so we built water towers out of pool noodles today! We experimented with funnels to see how fast the water traveled to the other side! And we just had some good ol' sprinkler fun too!

Testing it out!

Let's catch it!

Splish, Splash!

The Academy prides themselves in providing quality care and education that focuses on the whole child and our Frog Street Curriculum coincides with our philosophy. The Frog Street curriculum prepares the children academically but also meets physical and social emotional development.

Today, Preschool 3 practiced walking on a "tightrope" by the edge of the carpet. This activity is team building, encouraging, confidence boosting, super fun AND meets gross motor milestones!

Check it out!

Steady!!

Maybe I'll walk on the dots instead!

I don't even have to look!

Showing off my super powers on the tightrope!

Come by and see us in action!
