New Faces
We had a few new faces around AoILV this week! Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to ensure that each new child feel safe, loved and a part of our Academy family. These new faces were giggling in no time!
Bounce Night!
We love celebrating our families here at AoILV! Last night several of our families joined us at Hoppity Hop Bounce House for some after school fun! Families came in, kicked off their shoes, bounced their hearts out and even had pizza and cupcakes (on us)!!! This is just one of many family events we hold each year. Stay tuned for more event blogs as the Fall theme is "Fall is for Your Family"

Back To School Tips
The following health and safety tips are from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
MAKING THE FIRST DAY EASIER
- Remind your child that there are probably a lot of students who are uneasy about the first day of school. This may be at any age. Teachers know that students are nervous and will make an extra effort to make sure everyone feels as comfortable as possible.
- Point out the positive aspects of starting school. She'll see old friends and meet new ones. Refresh her positive memories about previous years, when she may have returned home after the first day with high spirits because she had a good time.
- Find another child in the neighborhood with whom your student can walk to school or ride on the bus.
- If it is a new school for your child, attend any available orientations and take an opportunity to tour the school before the first day.
- If you feel it is needed, drive your child (or walk with her) to school and pick her up on the first day.
- See more at: The American Academy of Pediatrics website
BACKPACK SAFETY
- Choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulder straps and a padded back.
- Pack light. Organize the backpack to use all of its compartments. Pack heavier items closest to the center of the back. The backpack should never weigh more than 10 to 20 percent of your child's body weight.
- Always use both shoulder straps. Slinging a backpack over one shoulder can strain muscles.
- If your school allows, consider a rolling backpack. This type of backpack may be a good choice for students who must tote a heavy load. Remember that rolling backpacks still must be carried up stairs, they may be difficult to roll in snow, and they may not fit in some lockers.

Heroes
Here at The Academy of Indian Lake Village
we love our heroes! We're gearing up for Super Hero Day on Saturday,
July 25th,when all of our favorite Super Heroes
(Spiderman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more!)
will be here interacting with our families and the community.
During our fun and fabulous event, we will also celebrate our
very own hometown heroes--our military parents.
We are honored to have them as part of our Academy family!
We thank all military heroes for their service!
Far above the storm clouds gathering
Far above that midnight sky
Looking out just past the rainbow
Where eagles dare not fly
Out among the ashes
Of heroes long since past
I will take my place among them
When that final die is cast
Let not your heart be troubled
That's what I've always heard
But I stood for what I believed in
With these my final words
For in this life but few things matter
In this short time that we have here
Leaving nothing behind but our honor
The thing we hold most dear.
Click here for more Words of Honor for our military heroes!
Many Blessings!
