Halloween Hauntings

This week, our classrooms have been busy learning through play in so many creative ways. We’ve been building haunted houses—some with colorful magnet tiles that challenge our engineering minds, and others with construction paper and stickers that let our imaginations soar! These spooky creations have been the perfect mix of fine motor skills, creativity, and collaboration. Our pumpkin explorations have been just as exciting! Children got to see, touch, and feel the inside of a real pumpkin, discovering the slimy seeds and stringy insides up close. We even planted our pumpkin seeds to see what might grow, and experimented with our senses by smelling pumpkin spices—a true fall favorite! Every moment of play is a chance to learn something new—whether it’s cause and effect, sensory exploration, or teamwork. We’re so proud of how our students are growing their curiosity and creativity each day!

Pumpkin Patch at The Streets of Indian Lake Village

We had such a gourd time at the 17th Annual Pumpkin Patch at The Streets! Our preschoolers and families joined in the fun, picking their perfect pumpkins and decorating them with plenty of creativity and fall flair. From silly faces to sparkly designs, every pumpkin was as unique as the child who made it! We’re always proud to serve families right here in Hendersonville—both out in the community and within our school walls. Events like this remind us just how special our hometown is and how wonderful it is to learn and grow together. 🍁 Thinking about joining our school family? There’s never been a better time! Enroll today and enjoy your first four weeks of tuition FREE this fall. Come see what makes The Academy of Indian Lake Village a place where Hendersonville’s youngest learners can shine, explore, and have fun every day!

Fire Safety

Our students got a special visit from some real-life heroes — the Hendersonville Fire Department! The children’s eyes lit up as the big red firetruck rolled onto our campus, lights flashing and sirens blaring. The firefighters took time to show us all the amazing tools they use to keep our community safe — from the big hoses and ladders to the special gear they wear when fighting fires. Each class had the chance to explore the truck up close, peek inside the cab, and even try on a firefighter’s helmet! Our little learners asked thoughtful questions, practiced saying their home address, and learned important fire safety tips like “Stop, Drop, and Roll.” It was a day full of learning, laughter, and admiration for our community helpers. We are so grateful to the Hendersonville Fire Department House Three for taking the time to visit and inspire our future heroes!

ABC Adventure Update

Our ABC Adventure is in full swing, and the fun just keeps growing! We’ve enjoyed L for Lollipops, M for Moana and Movie Munch, N for Nicknames, and a swashbuckling Pirate Pizza Party! This week, we’re witnessing the magical wedding of Letter Q and U, and celebrated R for Reading with a Scholastic Book Fair on campus through Friday. It’s been a month full of learning, laughter, and hands-on adventures—our little learners are loving every letter! Don’t forget to stop by the book fair and pick up a new favorite story!

F is for FROG!

We believe that learning is most meaningful (and fun!) when it happens through play. This September, we’re on an exciting alphabet adventure—focusing on a different letter each day! Each day, your child will explore a new letter through hands-on activities, stories, songs, and sensory play. From building with blocks shaped like the letter “B” to painting apples for “A,” we’re blending creativity and learning in a way that sparks curiosity and joy. By the end of the month, our little learners will have journeyed through the entire alphabet—one playful step at a time!

Back to Frog Street!

Guided by the Frog Street curriculum and Conscious Discipline approach, our classrooms are buzzing with excitement! We are helping children ease into routines, build friendships, and feel safe in their new environment. Through play-based learning, children are exploring classroom materials, practicing social skills, and discovering the joy of learning together. Whether they’re sorting supplies in dramatic play, singing welcome songs, or working together to build block towers, every moment is full of connection and growth. This week, our focus is on helping children feel seen, heard, and valued. Using Conscious Discipline strategies, we’re modeling empathy, encouraging emotional expression, and nurturing a strong sense of community. We’re so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to continue learning through play!

AOILV is Out of this World!

This week, our little learners blasted off into space for an Out of This World adventure! The children had a chance to imagine what life would be like as an astronaut by drawing themselves in space suits, helmets, and rockets. Their creativity took them all the way to the stars! ✨ We also had a very special surprise, friendly aliens stopped by for a visit during nap time! 👽 The children were thrilled to wake up and find that our space friends had left clues of their arrival around the classroom. Children were able to explore the galaxy a little closer with a real telescope! The children took turns looking through and imagining all the amazing things hiding in the night sky. From stars to planets, their curiosity was shining as bright as the Milky Way! 🌠 It was truly a week full of discovery, imagination, and wonder. Our little astronauts are ready for their next big adventure—because learning at AOILV is always out of this world! 🚀💫

Calling all Super Heroes!

The Academy of Indian Lake Village was filled with capes, masks, and SUPER smiles! During Superhero Week, our little learners stepped into their own heroic roles and discovered that they each have the power to make the world a better place. We kicked things off by painting our very own hero masks, letting creativity shine as bright as any superpower! Then, we snuggled up for a PJ Mask pajama party, where cozy meets courageous. Of course, every great hero needs a great story—so we read "Even Superheroes Have Bad Days" by Shelly Becker and learned that even when things don’t go our way, we can still make kind and helpful choices. Our heroes proved that bravery isn’t just about flying or lifting heavy things—it’s about kindness, teamwork, and trying our best. We can’t wait to see how they use their superpowers every day!

Just LET THEM PLAY!

At The Academy of Indian Lake Village, we believe the best learning happens when kids are laughing, moving, and getting a little messy. That’s why we’re diving into summer with our brand-new theme: Let Them Play! This hands-on learning initiative celebrates what childhood is all about — exploration, movement, and discovery through play. From toddlers to our oldest Wildcats, every age group is jumping into summer with open minds and even fuller hearts.
This week, our playful adventures included: 🏗️ Pool Noodle Towers – Students were challenged to stack, balance, and build with pool noodles. It was the perfect combo of engineering and silliness! 💦 Water Bucket Races – Speed met splash as we tested teamwork, coordination, and who could carry the most water without soaking their shoes! 🎈 Balloon Tennis – Balloons bounced, paddles swung, and laughter echoed as we improved hand-eye coordination through this lighthearted challenge. 🥎 Teacher vs. Student Kickball Game – The competition was fierce (and funny)! Our teachers brought their A-game, but our students were quick on their feet and full of spirit. Let’s just say… the teachers may need a rematch! "Let Them Play" isn’t just our theme — it’s our philosophy. Through play, our students learn problem-solving, communication, creativity, and confidence. Each activity is more than just fun — it’s a stepping stone in their developmental journey. After all… if childhood isn’t for playing, what is?
