Calling all Super Heroes!

The Academy of Indian Lake Village was filled with capes, masks, and SUPER smiles! During Superhero Week, our little learners stepped into their own heroic roles and discovered that they each have the power to make the world a better place. We kicked things off by painting our very own hero masks, letting creativity shine as bright as any superpower! Then, we snuggled up for a PJ Mask pajama party, where cozy meets courageous. Of course, every great hero needs a great story—so we read "Even Superheroes Have Bad Days" by Shelly Becker and learned that even when things don’t go our way, we can still make kind and helpful choices. Our heroes proved that bravery isn’t just about flying or lifting heavy things—it’s about kindness, teamwork, and trying our best. We can’t wait to see how they use their superpowers every day!

Just LET THEM PLAY!

At The Academy of Indian Lake Village, we believe the best learning happens when kids are laughing, moving, and getting a little messy. That’s why we’re diving into summer with our brand-new theme: Let Them Play! This hands-on learning initiative celebrates what childhood is all about — exploration, movement, and discovery through play. From toddlers to our oldest Wildcats, every age group is jumping into summer with open minds and even fuller hearts.
This week, our playful adventures included: 🏗️ Pool Noodle Towers – Students were challenged to stack, balance, and build with pool noodles. It was the perfect combo of engineering and silliness! 💦 Water Bucket Races – Speed met splash as we tested teamwork, coordination, and who could carry the most water without soaking their shoes! 🎈 Balloon Tennis – Balloons bounced, paddles swung, and laughter echoed as we improved hand-eye coordination through this lighthearted challenge. 🥎 Teacher vs. Student Kickball Game – The competition was fierce (and funny)! Our teachers brought their A-game, but our students were quick on their feet and full of spirit. Let’s just say… the teachers may need a rematch! "Let Them Play" isn’t just our theme — it’s our philosophy. Through play, our students learn problem-solving, communication, creativity, and confidence. Each activity is more than just fun — it’s a stepping stone in their developmental journey. After all… if childhood isn’t for playing, what is?

Disney Days

We sprinkled pixie dust all week long during our much-anticipated Disney Week — and it was nothing short of magical! From cozy pajama days to college spirit at Monsters University, our little dreamers showed up in full character, ready to learn, laugh, and bring their Disney favorites to life. Each day was a celebration of imagination, creativity, and childhood joy. We proudly strutted down the hallway in our favorite Disney character outfits, from brave princesses to silly sidekicks and daring superheroes. Our halls were bursting with color, giggles, and a whole lot of Disney spirit! But the true show-stopper of the week? The Dunk Tank. 💦 That’s right—our very own Ms. Morgan (the lovingly dubbed "villain" of AOILV) took the plunge! Known for reminding us to "use your walking feet!" and "keep your toys at home!", Ms. Morgan was a great sport as students lined up for the chance to dunk her like true Disney heroes defeating the villain. The splash zone was full of cheers, laughter, and a little revenge — all in good fun, of course! Check out our INSTAGRAM @aoilv to watch the revenge unfold! Disney Week reminded us that learning through play is the best kind of adventure. Whether we were pretending, painting, or plunging into a dunk tank, the memories we made will stick with us like Tinker Bell’s glitter.

Welcome to the Wild, Wild, West!

We saddled up for a rootin’-tootin’ good time during Wild West Week! Our little cowpokes put on their boots and hats and explored all things western in a week packed with discovery, imagination, and frontier fun. We moseyed on over to our Wild West Watering Hole sensory station, where students experimented with pouring, scooping, and splashing — just like old-timey ranchers cooling off after a long day on the dusty trail! Next stop on our adventure? A hands-on cactus exploration! From feeling the “spikes” on our pretend cactus crafts to learning about desert plants, our students got a taste of life in the dry and dusty wild. And of course, the week wouldn’t be complete without Cowboy Day! Our school was filled with mini sheriffs, outlaws (the friendly kind!), and wranglers ready for a hoedown. We practiced lasso skills, rode imaginary horses, and even learned a few yee-haw-worthy dance moves.
Wild West Week was a gold mine of giggles and growing minds! Until next time, happy trails, partners! 🌵🐴⭐

We ARE America!

Our preschoolers proudly celebrated all things red, white, and blue during our We Are America theme! From stars-and-stripes painting to sparkly firework art, the creativity was bursting like a Fourth of July sky! Our halls were filled with patriotic pride, and the excitement only grew when magician Bruce Amato stopped by to dazzle us with his star-spangled tricks. The kids were amazed, laughing and cheering through every magical moment! To top it all off, we held a Patriotic Bike Parade! Our little riders rolled through in style with streamers, flags, and festive gear — it was a true red, white, and woo-hoo moment! What a fun way to honor our country and celebrate community, creativity, and childhood joy. We are America — and we’re proud of it!

Let's BUILD!

During LET'S BUILD week at The Academy, we were under construction—preschool style! 🏗️ Our little builders had been hard at work exploring the world of construction through hands-on, play-based learning. From digging into construction-themed sensory bins to drafting their own blueprints, students are designing, stacking, building, and imagining big! They constructed towers out of blocks, roads out of recycled materials, and masterpieces with magnetic tiles, our classrooms were buzzing with creativity and collaboration. It’s more than just fun!! Our builders are strengthening fine motor skills, practicing problem-solving, and learning the value of teamwork. We’re laying the foundation for bright futures, one block at a time. Let’s build!

Forecast: 100% Chance of Learning! ☀️🌪️🌧️

At The Academy, our skies were filled with curiosity as our mini meteorologists took over the forecast during Weather Week! From cloud spotting to twister testing, our little learners were on a storm-chasing mission to uncover the wonders of the weather. They learned the difference between cumulus and stratus (spoiler alert: one looks like mashed potatoes!), created their very own tornado in a bottle, and even took a turn being the weather anchor—reporting the daily forecast with confidence and cuteness. Move over, Channel 5—we’ve got some future forecasters in the making! Whether it was raining facts, snowing fun, or blowing us away with their science smarts, these kiddos proved they’re bright and sunny no matter the weather. We’re so proud of the way they shined this week!

Dinos!

We’re having a dino-mite time this week as our little paleontologists dig into the world of dinosaurs! From ice-cold fossil excavations to dirt-digging discoveries, our students are roaring with curiosity and excitement. You never know when a T-Rex might stomp by for a surprise dance party—we’ve been shaking our tails to the Dino Stomp song and loving every minute of it! With each dig and dino fact, we’re learning through play in the most tricera-top way.
